John Hrankowski traveled to Ithaca, NY on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2002 to attend the dedication of a memorial for CT1 John C. Smith, Jr., who was killed in the attack on the USS Liberty by Israel on June 8, 1967. The memorial was held at the Immaculate Conception School there in Ithaca. All Smith children attended this grammar school.
